Wings of Honnamise is well deserving of a place on that list, though not set on an Alternate Earth as asserted by the reviewer.
Voices of a Distant Star is good, but owes a lot to the earlier Gunbuster – which while flawed (6-parter with three different directors) has one of the most tear-jerking endings in SF.
Evangelion – yes, thank god – though as with most Anime, it has a very worthy soundtrack.
