  1. The interesting thing is that the final three awards were all decided by margins of less than a dozen votes. Charlie lost on the novelette by three votes (he didn’t himself consider it really worth being on the shortlist – the votes disagreed), he won the novella by 11 votes (he really expected Kage Baker to win that one) and the novel was a tie.

    If I’d actually voted – I didn’t, because I’d not finished reading them all – China would have won, but I ranked Paolo second anyway.
