Nach dem Aufstand des 17. Juni
The Solution
After the uprising on June 17th
The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had flyers distributed in Stalin Way that said
That the People had frivolously
Thrown away the Government’s Confidence
And that they could only regain it
Through Redoubled Work. But wouldn’t it be
Simpler if the Government
Simply dissolved the People
And elected another?
I’m curious to hear what people in countries other than the US are making of the Wikileaks situation; in the US, most news coverage is about the existence of Wikileaks and “omg they’re bordering on terrorism” rather than dwelling at all on the content of the leaks. Which is a shame, since I don’t think a lot of US citizens are then reflecting on this new knowledge and how it impacts our ability to have a democracy if our citizens are not well-informed on important issues (such as the fact that our government is not telling us how many citizens it is killing abroad, etc).
More transparency is definitely needed, but if the citizens aren’t going to fight for it, I don’t see how it’s going to happen.
