Spam attack

I’ve discovered that someone has been deliberately setting up my work email address as a target for spam emails. As far as I can see the sender of this message says that I am a homosexual (the actual word used, peder/педер, is much ruder) who is spreading shit about Macedonia, and suggests that people send me spam.

As recently as yesterday he’s been posting my address in the hope that spammers will pick it up and use it. His messages seem to come from the IP address block 62.162.226.* which means that he’s a broadband customer of Macedonian telecoms company MTNET.

I must say I don’t think his lonely little campaign has had much effect – I’ve noticed a lot of Russian spam sneaking though our filters in the last few weeks, which may or may not be related – but otherwise our work spam filters seem to have had an effect.

Still, it’s a bit weird to be thought of as sufficiently important by some sad little guy in Skopje or wherever that he leaves such an obvious trail in his fury to get even with me for my imagined offences against his country (which incidentally is my favourite of the countries I deal with).

Any suggestions, apart from the obvious one of reporting him to his service provider?

  1. The Amazon article was sickening. James Delingpole is normally sickening too, but this was quite amusing.

I don’t always comment, but I do appreciate your interesting links.
