Oh, indeed; for me the two critical factors are that Gaunt’s name keeps coming up, and that Letts insisted that she had been contractually satisfied despite the lack of a paper trail which such a move would normally have left. Sladen’s pointers are strong corroboration of Gaunt rather than Dench, Dotrice or Jameson, but far from conclusive on their own.
