Back from Portugal. Got to swim in the sea on Wednesday and Saturday; had lots of time today to look around Lisbon; stayed in a beautiful monastic retreat house (now owned by a Portuguese foundation). Confusingly the sun rose from across the sea – given that Portugal is on the far west of Europe this ought not to really happen. But it turned out we were on the inside edge of a southern-curving peninsula, so all made sense really.

Downside: missed wedding anniversary yesterday. Still, now I’m back I can make up for lost time.
