11) Crooked Little Heart, by Anne Lamott
A rather heartwarming novel of adolescence, grief, sexual awakening, and tennis set in the Bay Area of California. Definitely enjoyed it.

Not sure this can happen in most places, at least not for a legal sale as the deed for the property resides with the mortgage holder, not with you. This is actually an interesting point for anybody close to paying off a mortgage – I had a friend who worked out it was cheaper to have a 2000GBP mortgage and cover the interest than pay a solicitor to hold his deed securely.
So, in the UK I don’t know how you’d sell a property without getting the deed and the deed would only be released on settlement of the charge on the property.
