This oddity appeared in The Dalek World, a Dalek annual published in 1965, and was probably written by Terry Nation (with possible input from David Whitaker). Connoisseurs of folklore will recognise the “Please don’t throw me in the briar patch!” theme. For good or ill, it is the earliest mention of Ireland in the extended Whoniverse, so I’ve been saving it for St Patrick’s Day.
