For me, “below the line” meant numbering Victorian Senate candidates from 1 to 97 in order of preference. Roughly the first third were “candidates who have vaguely sane policies”, the next third were “candidates who I’d prefer not to see elected”, and the rest were “do I have to live in the same country as these people ?” (mostly religious, racist, sexist in some way or other)
(the ballot paper was rather long, and has a horizontal dividing line – the options are to number “1” in one box above the line, or number everything below … )
I believe there were 110 Senate candidates in NSW, too …
