House of Shattered Wings is as well written as you would expect from Aliette’s previous books, but quite different in style. Whether this is a good, bad or neutral thing will obviously depend on (a) how much you like her previous books and (b) how broad your tastes are (fairly broad, I think, from what you’ve posted here over the years.)
