After rereading “Caisson,” I revised it from N/R (not rated) to four stars. What I missed the first time was that Mischke was ashamed that he was unable to have children, but that the magic of the compressed air made him fertile. This gives credibility to the notion that the egg was also real, and that’s enough to make the story SF in my view, as well as making it sophisticated enough to deserve four stars.
