The EU interviewees make me think of a divorce situation. The partner which is initiating the break up is quietly getting on with making plans for the future. Meanwhile the remaining partner (or partners in this instance) are going through various manifestations of denial, bereavement, anger, threats etc. The trouble is that everything they are saying just reinforces the position that they fundamentally don’t understand the sources of British euroscepticism, and hence are not just unwilling but are probably incapable of saying anything to persuade us to stay.
