My grass roots experience over here supports your analysis absolutely. The main gripes always coming up in conversations around kitchen tables involve complaints regarding such as an imbalance in tax levies (eg motorway tolls in Catalonia compared with Andalucia) and yes; the absolute insistence that a ‘full immersion’ of kids in Catalan language at school is the only way to preserve the Catalan culture and identity. ‘Españolización’ is the dirty word.
Hmmmm, I might even read the essays!
Good to catch up the other day —and Happy Easter!
