Thanks and meme

Thanks for the good wishes, folks. On reflection, the thieves have not done themselves a lot of favours, since I had cunningly left the power cable in the office, so they have just a few hours of battery time left, and the keyboard is QWERTY and the system in English, which may not be in huge demand in the Belgian underworld. Also they may not be much edified by the Doctor Who DVD (The Web Planet) I had been planning to watch on the way home.

Meantime here is a meme from

  1. Of course, few people outside my native land realise that the last two letters in “McGrath” should be silent.
Except we’ve been watching “Rory M’gra” on TV for decades now. (He’s from Cornwall as it happens, but in every show I can think of, from Who Dares Wins on, it’s been pronounced gra not grath, so it’s not been unnecessarily Anglicized.)

As to McHugh – yeah, I’ve heard it both ways and it’s only because I know it’s likely to be ‘Hugh’ that I manage to translate it from ‘Queue’ when I hear that.
