One of the Telos novellas, which I had read years ago but not got around to blogging. By a particularly prominent author, with a foreword by Neil Gaiman that got a lot of attention at the time (before we knew, of course). There are a lot of ideas here – a chap from colonial India who is slowly turning into a tiger, a generation starship, a lion-woman princess, uploaded and downloaded intelligences; too much really for the given length, and perhaps not fully under control.
